BU is currently looking for volunteers across stateside Air Force bases to speak as representatives in local coordinated events.
Benefits Unveiled is seeking volunteers to participate in a unique volunteer experience—one that will allow Airmen to stand out in their public speaking and leadership skills. While we are seeking various volunteers for different opportunities, we are primarily looking for five volunteers per Air Force base. These volunteers will coordinate public events and brief Benefits Unveiled (BU) to Air Force members in their area by partnering with various organizations. For example, we partner with FTEC. At least two of these volunteers would meet with the NCOIC of the FTEC at their base to incorporate our class at their base as we already have in others. Every other week, they can then brief 30-50 new Airmen. The briefing will consist of showing our website and giving examples of the benefits we have listed. We currently offer 400+ benefits and receive dozens of requests to add more. Our site acts as a primary repository for military benefits. We've found that many service members, even those with over 20 years of experience, are unaware of many of our listed benefits. Our goal is to change this for all military members. And create better awareness for military benefits.
Volunteers who choose to brief will receive scheduling assistance from established members. Eventually, a president will be established at each base, primarily responsible for taking over event coordination once everything is running smoothly. In addition to briefing throughout different communities and events, volunteers will have the opportunity to participate in other departments within our organization, such as public affairs, coordination efforts, and web development. Volunteers will receive both individual and group training; likewise, we have also developed training programs with packets for various roles.
In our initial period of operation, we have observed that many military personnel are not fully aware of the range of benefits available to them. We have even encountered personnel with over 20 years of service who have expressed surprise from the information they have learned through our program. Our initiative is designed to have volunteer Airmen brief to other fellow Airmen; with the goal of promoting awareness to all service members of all their military benefits. We hope that by seeing this, you may find encouragement in our efforts and consider joining as a representative in our operations at your local base. For Airmen, By Airmen!Â
Benefits Unveiled has created an automated event tracking repository that stores volunteer information, making it easily retrievable. Not only will you be helping Airmen worldwide, but our Letter of Appreciation (LOA) program can also help set you up for success. Established volunteers are eligible to receive an LOA. Our distinctive and exclusive program carries weight that can support future awards, commissioning opportunities, or Below-the-Zone promotions. Upon request, an LOA will be generated, signed, and sent to the volunteer's squadron commander for presentation at their next awards ceremony. A sample LOA (without a signature, as it is an example) is available on this page.Â
